Directed Readings

I am currently in the midst of a major project based on the Narragansetts of Rhode Island.

I am working on a directed readings study with the purpose of writing a paper to show evidence of social and sexual diversity among the Narragansetts at the time of the earliest Western contact. Although the Narragansetts came into contact with Verrazzano first, there is little in the written record to detail this meeting, however archaeological records from that time are available. Quite a bit of my project will be based on the writings of Roger Williams. I will be using his works to lend support to my conclusions, and I will also be attempting to refute several aspects of his writing using the archaeological records of the time.

This is my current book/journal list. I am always looking for more to add to it, in particular, possibly a couple of relevant gender studies.
